In addition to the scientific program, ICORS meets DSSV 2024 will provide several opportunities to connect and mingle in an informal setting. Starting Sunday, July 28, each day will feature a different social activity. Welcome reception and the cocktail hour are included in the registration fees, but for the conference dinner and the excursion separate tickets must be purchased at the online conference store (tickets are first-come first-serve).
Welcome reception
Pick up your conference badge and start off the conference at the welcome reception on Sunday, July 28 from 4–6 PM at the conference venue. Warm and cold hors d’oeuvre and drinks will be served. The welcome reception is included in the conference registration fees.
Cocktail hour/poster session
A cocktail hour and poster presentation session will be hosted on Monday, July 29 from 5–6 PM. Small hors d’oeuvre and drinks will be served. The cocktail hour is included in the conference registration fees.
Excursion
On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 30, participants can join an excursion to the Luray Caverns in Luray, VA. A 1:30 hour bus ride away, we will explore the largest caverns in the Eastern US. With a comfortable 54°F (12°C) the caverns offer a respite from the summer heat and beautiful geology. While the high humidity in the caverns make it feel more like 65°F (18°C), we would advise to bring a light jacket to the tour. To join the excursion a separate ticket must be purchased. Conference participants are most welcome to bring guests to the excursion, but each guest must have their own ticket. Tickets include the bus ride, a boxed lunch, the Luray Caverns Self-Guided Tour, entry to the Car & Carriage Caravan Museum, the Shenandoah Heritage Village, and the Toy Town Junction.
Tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis and can be bought at the online conference store.
Conference dinner
A conference dinner will be hosted on Wednesday, July 31. The dinner location, Draper’s Steakhouse & Seafood (3936 Blenheim Blvd, Fairfax, VA 22030) is close to the conference venue and most hotels in the City of Fairfax. To attend the conference dinner a separate ticket must be purchased. Conference participants are most welcome to bring guests to the dinner, but each guest must have their own ticket.
Tickets are available on a first-come first-serve basis and can be bought at the online conference store.
